It is a fact that many of us if not all have either been directly affected through losing family members and dear friends to this hideous desease called Cancer or have been indirectly affected hence the need for us to make it our mission to do whatever we can to save lives. Cancer which is the third cause of death in Kenya also claims about 27,000 lives annually while more that 40,000 new cases are reported every year.
In Busia County for example, where this year’s event is taking place, the number of Cancer patients has tremendously risen with cases of breast cancer and cervical cancer patients taking the lead. Many people have ended up losing their lives as a result as a result of late diagnosis due to lack of awareness and limited access to cancer care services. It’s for this reason the proceeds of this event shall be channeled towards creating awareness including paying for the treatment of cancer patients who are less fortunate.
